Twist Bioscience Corporation, a company that manufactures synthetic DNA for clients in the biotechnology industry, announced last week the ability to store the Netflix Original Series “Biohackers” within synthetic DNA. Documents and videos have been encoded in before, but this will be the first series from an entertainment provider to embrace the future of DNA technology. Using semiconductor technology, Twist manufacturers more than one million pieces of DNA on a single silicon chip. Twist’s innovation and creativity “illustrates the magic of bringing biology and technology together to create synthetic (inert) DNA.”
